Core Group

clrmedia.com maintains a core group of highly skilled individuals that possess a wide range of complementary skills. After a decade or more of knowing one another and working together, we can respond quickly, confident in the abilities of those around us.

John Elias is President and co-founder of clrmedia.com. He took his first computer course in high school – in 1967! (This was before punch cards were really popular. The input medium was a continuous strip of yellow paper tape about an inch high.) Being somewhat misguided as a youth, he got degrees in Business Administration and became a Chartered Accountant. When he finally grew up – an almost forty-year endeavor – he refused to touch another accounting entry and has worked with computers ever since.

Brenda Carlstad, Vice President and the other co-founder of clrmedia.com, is married to John Elias. Brenda spends a lot of time researching materials on the Internet and informing webmasters of spelling, grammatical, and logical errors on their sites. Brenda's co-workers acknowledge that she is really, really anal – which is an enviable trait when proofing a 300 page manual or testing computer-based learning objects.

Every company needs someone who is really bright. We contract with Integrated Learning Systems, of which Susan Moisey, PhD is President, to assist us with specific projects. Susan is an Associate Professor in the Centre for Distance Education at Athabasca University, where she teaches in the Masters of Distance Education program. Her research interests include distance education for students with disabilities, assistive technology, inclusive learning, and barrier-free instructional design. Susan helps us keep it simple and make it effective.

Samm Chan sees beauty in shape and colour and texture. He meant to go to University to become a doctor (which his mother is fond of reminding him). Instead, he became Art Director at clrmedia.com. Anything you see on this site that looks good, Samm did. A key strength is his ability to unify a series of applications through the use of graphical elements and colour variations. Samm also performs magic with print material. He actually worked for a commercial printer for three months to better understand that side of things.

John Schram is a computer programmer whose leisure activities include programming virtual reality games and space flight simulations as well as creating original music. Schram sees beauty in logic and takes pride in the creation of efficient (effective, lean and well-documented) code. When the rest of us get headaches from trying to understand a problem, Schram provides a quick overview and solution. Some people work hard. Others work smart. Schram does both.

Our Other Experts

Although the people within clrmedia.com are highly skilled in their respective areas, we are not experts in every facet of our clients' businesses. We draw upon a select pool of individuals, companies, post-secondary institutions and vocational colleges when necessary to supplement our skill set or simply ensure that sufficient manpower is available. By maintaining long-term relationships with contractors like Voicemaker, clrmedia.com is able to quickly retain the necessary skills and manpower for any assignment it undertakes.
